Clinical Trials

To aid in the development of treatment, CHEC has conducted clinical research for over five years and oversees more than a dozen Phase III and IV trials. CHEC is a center of excellence where our physicians provide high quality clinical research services. We are currently conducting several clinical trials which focus primarily on the treatment of Glaucoma Ocular Hypertension, Dry Eye, Diabetic Macular Edema, and Diabetic Retinopathy.

All our physicians assist in referring patients to studies, but our Principal Investigators are Dr. David E. Brodstein and Dr. Scott C. Richards.

Our clinical trials are open to patients who are interested in new medical treatments or treatments that compare against other treatments for superiority or comparability. In some cases clinical research programs provide therapies not available to the general public but with slightly added risk.

Patients involved in study programs receive attention from our clinical research team; including physicians, research technicians, and a study coordinator. The following are other benefits which participants may receive:

  • Office visits at no charge
  • Medication at no cost
  • Compensation for time and travel, where applicable

The requirements for eligibility may vary with each clinical trial; however, some of the general requirements are listed below:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be diagnosed with the specific disease or disorder

Please contact us for more information about one of our studies. You may either call or e-mail Jeannie at (801) 399-1149 or jeannie@checdocs.org.
