Glaucoma

As a respected provider of diagnosis and treatment options for people with Glaucoma, we at Country Hills Eye Center thank our patients for trusting us with their eye care.

Understanding Glaucoma

We pride ourselves in offering a variety of treatment options designed to improve vision and overall eye health. From basic eyeglasses to advanced laser-based treatments to correct common eye conditions, we use innovative techniques and technology to provide positive patient outcomes.

Glaucoma is a top cause of blindness among people in the United States. It occurs when too much pressure builds up in the inner eye and causes aqueous humor (a clear liquid) to flow in an uncontrolled manner in and out of the eye. Over time, the optic nerve becomes damaged and sight can be completely lost.

Fortunately, blindness can be prevented when glaucoma is diagnosed and treated early. It’s important to visit our practice when you first notice these common glaucoma symptoms:

  • Severe eye pain
  • Blurry vision
  • Seeing rainbow colors in the field of vision
  • Frequent headaches
  • Vomiting and nausea
  • Seeing spots of light in the field of vision

In addition to watching for the above symptoms, setting up regular eye exams is wise if you are wondering how to prevent glaucoma from worsening.

Diagnosis and Treatment

We diagnose glaucoma by measuring the intraocular pressure in your eyes, conducting a vision test and checking for nerve damage and proper eye drainage. If we determine that you have glaucoma, we will recommend a glaucoma treatment plan, which may include implants/shunts, laser procedures, medication and/or surgery.
